Teach Me How to Throat Sing is a tongue-in-cheek dark comedy three episode series by Christine Genier offering a vignette of the age of Reconciliation.
Common frustrations, communication barriers, and principal challenges are presented from the perspective of the Indigenous person navigation the professional landscape.
Available here Teach Me How to Throat Sing provides an opportunity to share a laugh and acknowledge the conditioning, discomforts, and unconscious biases we all bring to the workplace.
Does one’s intention overshadow the impact of their actions and beliefs?
What would you say if your job wasn’t at risk?
This experimental, daring series is based on real questions.
Here’s what the Creator has to say about the journey:
Yukon Digital Theatre Collective began at the end of 2021.
We were still at the height of the pandemic, and storytellers were finding new ways to communicate. That included with each other as we met through the zoom world and eventually, as we all got back together, took advantage of small pockets to meet and see physical faces, if not smiles yet, in person.Life events and returning to the world made art wait for its time. To finally be able to meet in one room and create weird art was cathartic, with an incredibly creative team who was willing to go to some weird places with me. That is treasure.
This project is dedicated to the memory of Shirley Adamson, the original change-maker, and to everyone still giving their all to change the system from within. I see you.
